Capron Ridge is a green community protecting its natural Ecosystems while developing a full-featured Florida lifestyle. The hollows is over 100 years old, and in January 1838, General Hernandez and his troops cut their way through the Florida brush in Hundred Acre Hollows! There were 2 columns of soldiers, one on land and one on the Indian River. The Hernandez Trail also cut through the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary and the Capron Ridge neighborhood just north of HAH. The map is from "Journey into Wilderness," an Army surgeon's account of life in camp and field during the Creek and Seminole Wars, 1836-1838, by Jacob Rhett Motte. His diary was published by the University of Florida Press in 1953. There are copies of this book at the Brevard County libraries.
